• AMKA Acquisition Procedure

1.���The interested party must present himself at the KEP or AMKA office of their choice and display the required documentation.

1.���A citizen may send a representative provided that the required documentation is displayed. The representative’s details are registered.

2.���The employee, using the application, examines the documentation and registers the required details electronically as they are written on the presented documents.

4.���Based on the registered details, the National Registry is automatically checked for the same name so that a new AMKA is not provided in the event that the individual already has one.

a)��If the individual already has a Social Security number they are informed of it and given a printed AMKA certificate.

b)��If it is determined that the individual does not have one, they are then provided with a Social Security number, their details are registered in the National Registry and they are given a printed AMKA certificate.

c)��In the event of registration through a representative who is unable to provide the interested party’s full details, the procedure is cancelled and repeated when more details are presented.

5.���The AMKA certificate is delivered to the interested party in order for them to verify the details and sign their acceptance. The certificate is then signed by the competent employee and given to the interested party.

6.���When registering an indirectly insured family member, registration of their health insurance body institution is mandatory as well as

a)�� the directly insured individual’s (family member) AMKA.

b)�� the relationship of the person being registered with the directly insured individual.
